Madilla Alice Kashner was the daughter of John Kashner and Mary Elizabeth Hughes Kashner. She was born near Circleville, Pickaway, Ohio. She was the oldest of four daughters born to John and Mary. The family moved to Vernon County, Missouri by 1870. She married John Lindsey Brown 13 January 1885 at her parents home in Washington Township, Vernon County, Missouri. John and Madilla had seven children five boys and two girls. When she could not live alone by 1930 she moved in with her daughter Helen Cline in Jasper County, Missouri. She died there in 1939. He body was buried beside her husband in Antioch Cemetery along with two of their children Ruth and George.
