Cresencio S. "Chenco" Acevedo 68, a longtime resident of Freer, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in an Alice hospital. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era in which he received several medals including three bronze stars. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a mutualista. He was a member of the VFW Post #8786 of Freer, Texas He worked for various oil field companies for over 35 years and his last employment was with Duval County. He enjoyed spending time at the ranch with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Servando Acevedo.
Chenco is survived by his wife of 47 years of marriage, Elda P. Acevedo of Freer, Texas; three sons, Jorge Luis (Sofey) Acevedo of Santa Teresa, New Mexico; Cresencio (Marisela) Acevedo Jr. of Freer, Texas; Larry Joe (Yasmin) Acevedo of Garland, Texas; one daughter, Christy Rebecca Acevedo of Corpus Christi, Texas; his mother, Manuela L. Acevedo of Garland, Texas; brothers and sisters; Irma (Chuy) Navarro of Greenville, Texas; Juan (Angela) Acevedo of Caddo Mills, Texas; Jesse (Corina) Acevedo, Aida (Marcos) Delgado and Jaime Acevedo of Garland, Texas; Sarita Bowling of Chesapeake, Virginia; Olivia (Al) Plant of Grove, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Military Graveside Services and Interment will follow at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas. Arrangements entrusted to Garza Funeral Home. Published by Garza Funeral Home February 17, 2012.
