Peter Engard was the son of Philip Engard Jr., who was the son of Philip Engard Sr. and Catherine Engard.
Peter Engard relates to the Redifers of St. Thomas and Mount Peace cemeteries in several ways:
1) Peter's aunt Anna Margaret Engard married Jacob Cupp, who appears to relate closely to the Margaret Cupp Redifer of Mount Peace Cemetery.
2) Peter married Anna Maria "Mary" Redheifer/Redifer, daughter of Andrew Redifer Jr. and Ann Rubinkam Redifer here at St. Thomas.
3) Peter had a sister Catherine who married Jacob Haupt of Upper Dublin. Later, there was a scuffle and court case involving Haupts, Engards and Redifers who can be deciphered as siblings and brothers/sisters-in-law to each other, with the Redifers involved relating to the children of this Peter's father-in-law and cemetery-mate Andrew Redifer Jr.
4) Peter and Anna Mary's daughter Sarah married Emmanuel Christian Wentz, whose parents were Levi Wentz and Ann Redifer (whose Redifer parents aren't yet clear). Peter and Anna Mary's son was Jacob Redifer Engard (who married Susannah F. Stoudt).
As a result of the intermarriages, succeeding generations and their cousins included many variations of these shared names. And when Sarah Engard married Emmanuel Wentz in Point 4, one grandmother on each side of that marriage was a Redifer.
The Mount Peace Redifers included a Levi Wentz Redifer and a John Jackson Redifer who married a Rebecca Engard Weysser. All of these families lived in the same general area of Montgomery County near Whitemarsh, Ft. Washington, Flourtown, etc. They shared a German Lutheran/Reformed background.
