Born in Greenwood, July 4, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Fred Wilson Laughlin and Sarah Marie Sherriff Laughlin. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Harris Plant, and was later on the nursery staff at North Side Baptist Church.
Mrs. Barrett was a member of Harris United Methodist Church and the Daisy Harris Sunday School Class, where she was recognized as having 20 years of perfect attendance. She was also a charter member of TOPS of Greenwood and her most enjoyable times where those spent with her family.
Surviving are three grandchildren, David C. Johns and wife Tammy, Michael L. Johns and wife Donna and Barbara Ann Hebel and husband Travis Major, all of Greenwood; a special niece, Vickie Norris of Greenwood; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Barrett Johns and her brothers and sisters, Eva Irene Laughlin Duncan, Newman Franklin Laughlin, Clara Lona Laughlin Alexander, Fred Hollis Laughlin, Maurice Laughlin, James Clifton Laughlin, John Paul Laughlin, Spencer Truett Laughlin, Earnest Carroll Laughlin, Evelyn Beulah Laughlin Brooks and Betty Sara Sue Laughlin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. J. William Harris and Rev. Franklin D. Morris officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Roger Laughlin, Clifton Laughlin, Terry Laughlin, Steve Laughlin, Larry Laughlin and Frank Laughlin.
The family is at the home on Woodlawn Street and will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 Saturday evening.
