Eugene's father Adolphus was one year old when he immigrated from Germany in 1846 with his parents Moritz (Martin) and Maria (Mary). His grandfather worked as a fruit peddler. His father Adolphus and uncles went into the jewelry and diamond business. He had one sister May Bertha.
Eugene attended St. Francis Xavier College. He went
on to Medical school at Columbia and studied at Bellevue Hospital. Next he attended Cornell Medical College. He had three classes to go before receiving his medical degree. For some unknown reason he quit.
He married Ethel J. from New Jersey. No information can be found about her.
He was involved in the American Protective League during WWI
In various census forms he is listed as a salesman of electric items and carburetors.
He married May Myrtis Clemons in 1925. They had one son Douglas Eugene Marx.
