John Irvin Boone was born in Johnsville, Frederick County, Maryland, on November 1, 1893, the son of Thomas W. and Jennie Fogle Boone. He married in December of 1915 to Mary Blanche Miller, daughter of Milton Van Buren Miller and Mary Ann Plowman Ilgenfritz. They were the parents of 6 children: Mary L., Caroline Isabelle, John David, Margaret Leanna, Barbara Ruth and Patsy Jane Boone.
From the Frederick Post of Wednesday Morning, November 15, 1944:
"PIG ROAST HELD. A pig roast was enjoyed by the family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John I. Boone at their home near Union Bridge Sunday, November 12. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. John I. Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Saylor, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Saylor, Jr., Mrs. Myra Lindsey, Abe Wilson, all of near Union Bridge; Mrs. Roy Keefer of Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Warner of Johnsville; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wachter, of Keymar; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Beard of Sykesville; Mrs. Milton Miller and Mr. and Mrs. William Boone of Westminster; Miss Vena Sykes of Patapsco, Leanna, Ruth and Patsy Boone, Shirley, Joyce and Jerry Wachter, Elizabeth Warner, Helen Louise Beard."
Obituary for John Irvin Boone from the Frederick News of Tuesday, March 31, 1959:
"John Irvin Boone died at his home in Union Bridge on Monday morning at the age of 65. He had been ill for one month. Mr. Boone is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Miller Boone. He was born in Frederick County, a son of the late Thomas and Jenny Fogle Boone. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Clifford Beard, Westminster; Mrs. Gerald Wachter, of near Keymar; Mrs. LeRoy Stitely, Mrs. Richard Zile, and John D. Boone, all of Union Bridge; and Mrs. Noel Baltzell, Plattsburg, New York. Eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive. Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters: Walter C. Boone and William E. Boone, both of Westminster; Elmer C. Boone, of near Union Bridge; and Jesse R. Boone, Ray D. Boone, Mrs. J. W. Brown, and Mrs. Charles Hiltebridle, all of Johnsville. Friends may call on Wednesday evening at D. D. Hartzler and Sons funeral home, Union Bridge. Funeral services will be conducted there at 1 p.m. Thursday by Rev. Donald Brake. Interment will follow in Haugh's Mount Zion Cemetery."
