Mark Vernon Harrison, 59, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Newman Hospital in Emporia, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.
He was born November 5, 1952 in Russell, Kansas the son of Jack Vernon and Freda Marie Dudley Harrison. Mark attended grade school in Palco and Cheney, Kansas, moving to Madison in 1967. He graduated from Madison High School in the Class of 1971 while also attending Vo-tech school in Emporia.
Mark was joined in marriage to Diane Dee Ziegler on August 7, 1971 in Madison. He owned and operated Harrison Body Shop and Auto Repair in Madison with his son, Jason and worked as a contract oilfield pumper. He loved attending his grandchildren's school and sporting events and spending time with family and with friends. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, car racing and hunting. Mark was a member of the Cheney Methodist Church and was an active member of the Madison Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Harrison of the home; a son, Jason Dean Harrison of Madison, two grandchildren, Kortnie Diane and Chase Alan Harrison of Madison; a brother, Russell Harrison of Cheney, Kansas. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Harrison.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Madison United Methodist Church. Burial will follow services at Number 8 Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday evening at the VanArsdale Funeral in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison Volunteer Fire Department or the Madison Chamber of Commerce (Park Fund) and sent in care of the funeral home.
