THE REV. NEWTON D. COSNER, 55, pastor of the First Church of the Brethren, Akron, Oh., for the last six and one-half years, died at his home in Akron yesterday morning, February 23, 1950. In failing health for a year, the Rev. Cosner had been confined to his bed for the past three weeks.

He was born near Keyser, Grant County, W. Va., and attended Bridgewater College, Bridgewater Va., and Juniata College, Huntingdon, Pa. The Rev. Cosner started his ministry at the age of 17 in a pastorate at Markleysburg, Pa. He later held pastorate in Westport, Md., Sykesville, Pa., and Windber, Pa., and from Windber went to Akron. The deceased had been active in the community life of the cities in which he was pastor. He represented his churches several times as delegate to international conferences.

He leaves his wife, Jessie (Kimmel) Cosner, daughter of the late Christopher and Ella (Schumaker) Kimmel of Shelocta R. D., and one daughter, Yvonne, age 12. Also his mother, three brothers, and five sisters.

Services will be held tomorrow in Akron at the Church of the Brethren at 1:00 P. M. The deceased will be brought to the Kimmel homestead, now the home of Mr. and Mrs. Myers Kimmel, Shelocta, R. D. 1, late Saturday evening, where respects may be paid until 1:00 P. M. Sunday. The body will then be taken to the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren to lay in state one hour prior to the time of service, 2:30 P. M. Sunday. C. N. Ellis, president of Juniata College, will officiate at the services and burial will be made in the Elderton Cemetery,
