James Hamilton Parks was an interesting person and recently we found a second of his oil paintings. We wish we knew if he was self taught or studied and how much he painted.
I listed his birth year as 1870 because that is what was reported to the death certificate, but his marker at Rose Hills states 1861. Census dates vary from 1860 to 1869. A handwritten family document which may have been copied from a family Bible states 1860 so I am going to use that date once again with ancestry. I will use the 1861 of his Rose Hills marker for Find-A-Grave.
He was one of eight children. Some are listed in Find-A-Grave. His siblings are, in birth order:
Martha E. Parks/Parkes # 67770321
John William B. Parks #99148875
Olive Josephine Parks (Josie or Josephine Dorsett, Hutchinson, Ward)
George McClellan/d Parks #106984349
Mary Josephine "Molly" Parks (Clark, Stevens)
Andrew G. Parks
Ella Pearl Parks (Frazier)
His half sister was Ida C. Kelly (Patton), the "baby" of the family.
His parents were James M. Parks and Malinda Perry who remarried twice after James early death. I found Malinda #12128225 but have not yet found their father, James.
All three of James H. Parks children are now linked with the family.

Your family still thinks of you and we still have your painting of the man on horseback. You would have enjoyed the company of your grandson, Gary Parks.|
