William H. Abbott, 69, Greentown, passed away at 12:46 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his residence. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born July 8, 1943, in Blackford County to William H. and Mary (Nelson) Abbott Sr. He was married June 22, 1962, at Hickory Grove Church, Pennville, to Linda (Merchant) Abbott, who survives.
He was employed at the Chrysler Transmission Plant, Kokomo, before retiring after 30 years of service in June 1994.
He was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and was a member of UAW Local 685. William enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending time with his family, family vacations and visiting flea markets.
Survivors are his wife, Linda, Greentown; daughters, Luann Wyant (husband, Scott), Kempton, and Dianna Wilmoth (husband, Jerry), Daleville; son, William Harold Abbott III (wife, Shelli), Albany; grandchildren, Cara Wyant, Sara Wyant, Jerry Wilmoth Jr., Maryann Anthis, Linda Cart, Jasmine Wilmoth, Chelsea Wilmoth, Natasha Abbott, Desirae Abbott, Jamie Keesling, William Abbott IV, Audreyauna Abbott and Arribella Abbott; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Mary (Nelson) Abbott Sr.; grandson, Aaron Abbott; and brother, Marion Abbott.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with one hour of calling before the service. Burial will be in Forks Of The Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
