James "Jim" L. Ault Jr. 69 of Kokomo passed away at 5:50 pm on July 19, 2013 at IU Health in Indianapolis. God called upon a hero Jim, who served his country and family as a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather who will never be forgotten. Jim was born on March 15, 1944 in Miami, FL to Eunice Mae and James L. Ault Sr. Jim was a kind hearted respectful man who was loved by many people that had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife Peggy (Richards) Ault who stood by his side for 48 years. Daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jeff Ingram, son and daughter in law, John and Ashley Ault. Grandchildren, Alyssa and Addison Ingram, Allison and Andrew Ault, Haley and Jeremiah Pryor, and one great grandson, Jonas Pryor. Sisters, Peggy (Burr) Sheveily, Judy (Marvin) Harrison, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Eunice Mae and James Ault Sr.
He served in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Chrysler in 1995. He served as second Vice Chair of local 685 retirees committee. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, VFW post 8035, American Legion post 317, Howard County Vietnam Veterans Organization. He was the commander of VFW 8035 for several years. Founder of Operation Flag Drop. Member of the Forty and Eight. He was a previous member of the Kokomo Bass Busters for several years. He was a volunteer for Jim Moose Carden Kids Fishing Clinic since its inception. He enjoyed teaching flag etiquette classes at schools, churches, and numerous organizations within the community.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home and Crematory at 1315 West Lincoln Road in Kokomo with Steve Cole officiating services. Entombment will follow funeral services at Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors. Friends may call from 3 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 25 at the funeral home.
