Cecil "Bill" Carrico, 86, of Greenville, Ill., formerly of Keyesport, Ill., born Dec. 31, 1922, in Fancy Farm, Ky., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Cecil was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church, in Carlyle, Ill., St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in O'Fallon, Ill., the Keyesport American Legion Post 1994 and the VFW Post 8677 in Fairview Heights. He retired as a line worker at General Motors.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary, nee Hayden, Carrico; three sisters, Erline Carrico, Margaret Montgomery, Margie Williams; and a brother.
Surviving are his wife Helen M., nee Sharp, Carrico of Greenville, Ill.; two daughters, Cynthia Mhoom-Venable of Kirkwood, Mo., Carolyn Carrico of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; seven stepchildren, Clarence (Nancy) Nail of Red Bud, Ill., Jerry (Carol) Nail of Keyesport, Ill., Martha (Harry) Higgerson of Pinckneyville, Ill., Mary (Jerry) White of Greenville, Ill., Russell (Connie) Nail of Lawtey, Fla., Judith Fricke Roberts of North Mrytle Beach, S.C., and Kenneth Paul Fricke of Princeton, Ky.; a sister, Louise Knopstead of Collinsville, Ill.; two brothers, Norman Carrico of Swansea, Ill., and Tom (Jan) Carrico of Waterloo, Ill., four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren, 21 step great-grandchildren; and six step great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
At the request of the family, Bill's body was cremated after all services with burial of the cremains to be held Thursday at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
