|Birth: ||Sep. 16, 1738|
Bryant Brinton, Sr is the immigrant ancestor of the Brintons of Kentucky and Indiana. He was born in Gloucestershire, England in 1760. He came to America at a very early age, about 14. One researcher has his name as Briar Brampton, but he shows up in the 1782 Tax list of Montgomery County, VA with three horses and 2 cows, and no land. The next year, he attends a militia meeting at the home of Patrick Campbell who lived on the Holston River in Virginia. The spelling of his name is especially varied which has been the cause of much confusion. He resides in Lincoln County, KY and is on the tax rolls from 1787 until 1806 when Casey County, KY was formed. He remains on the Tax Rolls until 1810 when his wife is now alone and he has died.
Bryant Brinton, Sr. married Jane Burns presumably in Virginia.
