Michael "Mick" Douglas Summey, 66, of Greeley, passed away peacefully Feb. 23, 2013, at Northern Colorado Medical Center Hospice wing, following complications from a lung transplant. Mick was born May 20, 1946, in Waynesville, to Ed and Vivian (Caldwell) Summey.

Mick grew up in Clyde, and graduated from Clyde High School in 1964. He then married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sally Lindsey. They were married for 47 years before his passing. Mick graduated from Ashville-Buncombe Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After the birth of their son Michael, they moved to Henry, Nebraska, in 1969, where they also had a daughter, Michelle. Mick was instrumental in the development of agriculture equipment, including center pivot irrigation, belt chain for harvesters, and other products that revolutionized the efficiency of harvesting crops while he worked for Lockwood Corp. of Gering, Nebraska. In 1987, Mick and Sally moved to Greeley, where Mick began working as the sales manager for Noffsinger Manufacturing, Inc. Mick traveled the country meeting with customers and farmers and continued innovation of harvesting products over his career.

Throughout his life Mick was involved with his church. He was a Sunday school teacher and an AWANA Clubs commander for more than 20 years. He loved sharing his faith with others and was a part time missionary for Awana Clubs, while he lived in Nebraska.

Mick also loved camping and hiking and arranged many Father & Son fishing trips for his friends and family. Mick and Sally traveled extensively throughout America and Europe. They also took vacations with their grand children. Mick loved to garden and work in his yard and always enjoyed a sunrise from his patio deck.

Mick is survived by his wife, Sally (Lindsey) Summey; his two children, Michael Douglas Summey Jr., and his daughter, Michelle (and Keith) Kempema; his grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Lindsey and Anna; his brother Don Milner, of Waynesville; and his sisters, Geraline Jones, of Canton, and Edwina Henson, of Asheville.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 1, at Bethel Baptist Church, 2307 17th Ave., in Greeley. A reception will follow. Inurnment will be March 9, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, Mick would prefer contributions be made to Hospice of Northern Colorado, 2726 W. 11th Street Road, Greeley, CO 80634.
