Jack Lewis Lillie died at age 76 years after a long battle with throat cancer. He collapsed in the kitchen of his home at 6:30 a.m. upon which time the rescue squad was called, but they couldn't revive him. He was pronounced dead on June 8, 2010.
Jack was born on November 16, 1933 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the parents of Warren and Katherine Cummings Lillie. He attended Glenwood, Michigan grade school. His first job was as a waste management driver. He served four years in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Rochester battleship from 1951 until 1955. On January 16, 1955 he married Betty Ann Knudsen in Long Beach, California. From this union were born three sons, Steven Ray, Ronald Lee, and Brian Edward. Jack worked as a lineman for the Michigan Gas; Dowagiac, Michigan also Peter Baker & Sons; Lake Bluff, Illinois for 22 years before his retirement on August 9, 1995. He took great pride in his garage which was spotless with air conditioning in it and all of his tools and supplies hung neatly on the walls. He enjoyed taking a cup of coffee out into his garage and sitting there sorting through his supplies. He was also very proud of his 1986 Toyota pickup truck.
He enjoyed traveling in their RV to visit his family of four brothers; Richard, Joe, and David of Michigan and Lonnie from Arizona, his four sisters; Frances, Connie, Janelle and Sharon who all lived in Michigan along with their families.
He leaves to mourn his passing his three sons; Steven R. (Marie) Lillie, Ronald L. (Lisa) Lillie, Brian E. Lillie and Tamara M. Ellison along with ten grandchildren; Michael, Richard, Lindsey, David, Lindsey Danielle, Ryanne, Alexis, Ashley, Michael and Zackary. He also had one great-grandchild; Ethan.
Funeral services were provided by American Family Funeral Services at Carey, Illinois.
Memorial services were held at 2 o'clock on June 14, 2010 by Rev. Harold Ross and his ashes were interred in the mausoleum at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock, Illinois.
