Services for James D. Amos, 65, Bullard, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup, with the Rev. Bennie Portwood officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Troup.
Mr. Amos died Thursday, July 28, 2011, in a Tyler hospice facility. He was born Aug. 27, 1945 in Gilmer to the late James Wilson Amos and Lois Elvira Gage Amos. He had 15 years of military service in the U.S. Army. He served during the Vietnam War and in the National Guard.
He worked for Old Dominion Freight Co. in Dallas and Tyler. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Hilltop Country Club.
Mr. Amos was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
He married his wife in Gilmer Feb. 7, 1967.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, four sons and a daughter-in-law, a brother, an aunt, five grandchildren and three nieces.
Pallbearers will be Pat Moore, Larry Patillo, Roger Chestly, Billy Fuller, Bill Arnold and Jerry McPhearson.
