BURWELL - Herman C. Brockman, 81, of Burwell, died Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Sargent Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Burwell. The Revs. C. E. Rohde and David Nord ill officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8:30 p.m Monday at the Eberle Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorial are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mr. Brockman was boen Feb. 9, 1910, to Christian and Frieda (Schaumaker) Brockman at the family home in Bertrand. Soon after his birth the family settled near Kent where he spent his childhood and attended school. He enjoyed baseball and other sports. On Jan. 2, 1942, he married Crystal Woods. Shortly after their marriage, he was called back to active duty with the 134th Infantry in Little Rock, Ark. They lived most of their married life on ranches in Loup and Garfield counties. Mr. Brockman took great pride in his registered cattle. From 1961 to 1969 he worked and ministered in Christian schools in California. He then returned to the ranch near Burwell. He continued to raise crops and feed cattle until his health failed in the spring of 1988. He spent many summers going to Alaska and helping his son Wayne with Vacation Bible Schools for Eskimos and Indians. He was a member of the Burwell Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal; one son, Bob of Burwell; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon and Fred Brockman. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne; two sisters, Mamie and Bertha; and brothers, Harry, John and Elmer.
