George Grange
It is with feeling of sadness and loss the we chronicle the passing from our midst of George Grange, which occurred Saturday, January 23. He was am honest man; a father of more than ordinary kind; a faithful husband and a friend to all. Mr. Grange was born sixty-five years ago in the town of Mineral Point; his first wife died more than twenty-eight years ago, leaving him with a family of six girls, the youngest only 18 months old, bet he loved his little brood, and toiled hard for their sakes, and protected and mothered them; and before his death Mr. Grange had the comfort and satisfaction of seeing his six daughters all comfortable in homes of their own. Thirteen years ago Mr. Grange was united in marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Stephens, who now survives him. The children who will miss him are; Cora Andrew, New Glarus, Wis., Maud Hoare and May Zweifel, Mineral Point, Ethel Harwick, Moorefield, Nebr., Allie Penhallegon, Wenatchee, Wash., and Gertie French, Sauk Center, Minn. He also leave five brothers, John and Ward of Mineral Point, Teasdale and Delos of Sioux Rapids, Ia., and Albert of Darlington, one sister Mrs. Donald McKennon of Hawarden, Ia. Twelve grandchildren are also left to mourn his departure. The funeral services which were largely attended, were held from his late home on Monday afternoon , Rev. A. H. Schoenfeld of the First Congregational church officiating. Burial was made in Graceland. The Modern Woodman of America, of which he was a member, attended the funeral in a body.
