Sally R. Ackerman (nee Rosati), age 94, entered into rest Thursday February 16, 2012 in Sheffield Village, Ohio.
Sally was born Sarafina (Sarah) Rosati on May 27, 1917 in Scranton, PA. Sally was raised in Eveleth, MN where she graduated from Eveleth High School in 1936. Sally moved to Lorain, Ohio in the early 1940s. In the early 1970s, Sally and her husband, Jim, moved to Charlotte, NC making Charlotte their home for over 40 years. Sally and Jim welcomed to their home the visits of countless family members and friends through the years. Their hospitality was beyond measure.
Sally was employed at Fruehauf Trailer Corp. in Avon Lake, Ohio, Western Automatic in Elyria, Ohio and the Talent Tree Craft Shop in Charlotte, NC before retiring.
Sally is survived by her grandsons Mark D. (Angela) Grondin from Lorain, Ohio and Dino P. (Maribel) Grondin, Sr. from Sheffield Village, Ohio; 5 great-grandchildren Jack Perry, Erica Grondin, Sarah Grondin, Dino Grondin, Jr. and John Grondin; 3 great-great-grandsons Angelo, Ma'Kyle and Julian Grondin; sister Doris (Leighton) Haugen and brother Frank Rosati, daughter-in-law Paulette (Ken) Short, step-daughter Joan Ackerman, nephew Jack (Diana) Haugen, great-niece Kasey Haugen and many other nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband James F. Ackerman (on February 3, 2012), parents Julius and Clara (nee Tomassoni) Rosati, son Jack D. Grondin, and brothers Frederick Rosati, Albert Rosati, Hugo Rosati, Guido Rosati and Jerry Rosati.
The family will receive friends Friday February 24, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the MISENCIK FUNERAL HOME, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon. Please join the family in honoring the lives of Jim and Sally.
Interment will be private.
