Amelia's Parents immigrated to the United States with their parents in the 1800's. They came from Lauterecken, Rhineland-Platz, Germany.
Amelia had 2 brothers and 1 sister. Younger brother Leo 1883-1899 died at age 16 is buried in the Purpus Family Cemetery. Her brother Albert Charles 1873-1972 and his wife Jenny Lilliam Thomas 1885-1945 are buried in the Mt. Sterling Cemetery. Her sister Lena Purpus 1867-1967 married Enos 'Vess' Bennett and they are buried in Quincy, Adams Co. Illinois. Aunt Melia's hobbies were crocheting and taking photos of her family with her red Kodak box camera. I am blessed with many photos of me and my parents that were taken by her in the mid 30's and 40's.
