Velma Jane Rigg Daab was a wonderful wife and surrogate grandmother. She was the caregiver for Ralph's first wife Arte Moody Stout who died of TB after several years of being bedridden. She married Ralph a few years later. After his daughter Juanita died at an early age in 1945, she took on the task of helping raise his granddaughter Jeaneen through her adult life as well as being a wonderful influence on the other granddaughter, Judy.
She also was a steady influence on her step-great grandson Michael until he was 12 years old. She was always there to help care for him. She was able to visit him in Florida in her later years, walk the beach and visit Disney World.
She married Carl Daab a few years after Ralph died and they lived in Mt. Sterling. After Carl's death she lived in their home until she had to move to the Nursing Home in Mt. Sterling where she passed away.
Grandma Velma will always be treasured in the memories of her 'adopted family' for her kind and loving ways. She is very much missed by her family. She requested that she be buried in the Rigg family plot in Hersman with her parents and other siblings.
