Thomas Fritz

Thomas Fritz, of Dunmore, died Monday morning at Community Medical Center.

He and his wife, the former Mary Angela Mistretta, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary April 6.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Nathan D. and Catherine Price Fritz, he was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore, and was a graduate of Lackawanna Junior College. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and in Berlin. He earned the Berlin Occupation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and a Marksman Qualification Badge with a pistol bar.

He enjoyed his daily walks through Dunmore and sharing his stories with family and friends. He was an avid Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers football fan and season ticket holder. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas A. and wife, Robin, Dickson City; and Christopher R. and wife, Jackie, Dunmore; four sisters, Lucy Azain, North Brunswick, N.J.; Martha Dubroski, Rahway, N.J.; Bessie Cannole, Detroit; and Catherine Titus, Baltimore; two brothers, John Fritz, Linden, N.J.; and Ronald Fritz and wife, Rea, Toms River, N.J.; three grandchildren, Lauren Nicole, Meghan Mariah and Cayden Christopher Fritz; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Nathan, Willard Eugene, Edward, William and Bobby Fritz.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. Interment with military honors, Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
