"Dr. Bob" as he was affectionately known to those who knew him in the council was Commodore of the FCYC in 2003. He was an inspiration to all who served with him on the Executive Committee and during his watch as Commodore. During the 6 years he was on the Executive Committee and as Commodore, he was instrumental in developing a new accounting system and other technology applications that upgraded the Councils business operations. He played a key role in protecting member clubs from excessive pressure and costs from government agencies regarding submerged land leases. He considered it an honor to be Commodore of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs which had 38 member yacht clubs around the state of Florida - from Jacksonville to Marathon in the Keys to Pensacola in the panhandle.
