Rosalind was born on March 22, 1923 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Maurice and Louise (Lingenfelter) Gillespie. She had one sister, Barbara. After his return from the war, the two were married in Aurora, Indiana on April 21, 1946. Rosalind worked as a Registered Medical Technician in Lafayette Home Hospital while Gene graduated in 1947 from Purdue. She later worked at Garfield Park Hospital, Chicago, faithfully supporting Gene as he pursued his theology studies at Northern Baptist Theology Seminary. They had three children, Ralph, Silas, and Mary. The family lived in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania while serving both the American Baptist and United Methodists Churches. After her husband's death in 1985, Rosalind moved to Spring City, TN., where she lived until her death on April 12, 2012.

She taught Sunday School at the Spring City United Methodist Church and led a Bible study at Abby Mae's Hill, the assisted living facility where she lived the last two years. Rosalind was a world traveler. She visited Egypt, Israel, Ireland, and England. She took several mission trips to aid others, once to Alaska and twice to Guatemala. She was once honored as Spring City Volunteer of the Year.
