Obituary - from the papers of Geneva Smith, provided by Shirley Elmer, newspaper not identified.
Miss Rachel Eberhard was born in Pennsylvania, November 10, 1815, and died at the home of her niece, Mrs. H.T. Mowry, Colon, December 3, 1910, age 95 years and 23 days.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Eberhard, who died respectively 37 and 48 years ago. She had one sister and four brothers, who have all passed on. She has 19 nephews and nieces.
She moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio in her girlhood and since has lived in Findley or in the vicinity of Colon, save the last eight years which she lived in the home of her niece, Mrs. H.T. Mowry.
She was schooled in the German language. In her younger days she was a tailoress. Since 1828, or 82 years she has been a member of the Lutheran church. She was a great reader of the Bible and always found comfort in hours of depression by turning to her Bible. Her habit was to always make the best of life's trying circumstances, to look on the bright side of life, and died of old age as the reward of her regular habits and continued care of her health.
The funeral was held from the M.E. church, at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, Rev. Cook officiating. Interment in Eberhard cemetery.
