Exact burial location is unknown for Private Robert H.(believe Harrison) Wood, Confederate Civil War soldier, born c. 1829 in Chesterfield, VA. enlisted May 15, 1861 at Petersburg, VA. to Company F, VA. 16th Infantry (Colston's Regiment) and 26th Regiment Infantry. He was taken Prisoner of War Sept. 14, 1862 Cramptons's Gap, MD., confined Sept. 19, 1862 at Fort Deleware, DE., exchanged Oct. 6, 1862 at Aiken's Landing, VA. and returned to duty on Oct. 15, 1862. He succumbed to disease in camp at U.S. FORD along the Rappahanock River outside Fredricksburg on March 5, 1863. He was married to Mary Agnes COX Wood. There were four children: Susanna E., Mary Elizabeth, Vandelia Virginia "Vandy", Brunetta Frances "Nettie" Wood, and a nephew, Irby C.Cox, who was also a Confederate Civil War soldier who died of diptheria while serving. He was the grandfather of Robert Emmett Vaughan of Ettrick, VA. His exact burial location is not known at this time but he died outside of Fredricksburg at Ford Encampment along the river. He has not been found in the records for this cemetery but has been added in memory as his family is buried here.
