Homer Nelson Foreman was born April 30, 1896 at Platte City, Missouri the son of John Frederick and Jessie Smith Foreman. He passed away Sept. 2, 1977 at Wichita, KS. His father died when Homer was only 2 years of age. Homer grew to manhood with his mother and step-father, James Fincham, on a farm in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood east of Blue Rapids, KS.
On Sept. 2, 1919 he was married to Geraldine Grace Estes. To this union were born two children, Charles Frederick and Doyn Rae. They lived until 1942 on their farm east of Blue Rapids when they moved to Manhattan, KS where Homer was employed by the United States Civil Service at Fort Riley for 16 years. In 1958 they retired to Youngtown, AZ where they spent 18 happy years. Homer passed away on their 58th wedding anniversary.
He was a veteran of World War I serving in the European sector on Company B, 352nd Infantry, 88th Division. He was a Mason. As a young man he became a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church at Blue Rapids, KS. At the time of his death he was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Sun City, AZ. He was a charter member and active in helping establish that mission.
Preceding him in death were his father, an infant sister LaVerne Foreman, his mother and step-father Jessie & James Fincham, an infant granddaughter, Jean Elizabeth Foreman and three brothers, Arthur Fincham, Fred Fincham, and Russell Fincham.
Surviving was his wife Geraldine,presently of Wichita, his son Frederick Foreman and wife Melba of Ames, IA, his daughter Doyn Wiler and husband Harold of Wichita, 4 grandchildren, Andrea Wiler Ham and husband Bill, Derby, KS, John Frederick Foreman and wife Sandra of Phoenix, AZ., Michael Foreman and wife, Julie, Scottsdale, AZ., and Lance Foreman, Arkansas City, KS., three great grandchildren, Dawn Elizabeth and Aimee Jeanne Foreman, Phoenix, and Mitchell Christian Ham, Derby, KS.
Also surviving were his sister, Mrs. Thelma Wempe and husband Frank, Sabetha, KS; one brother Jack Fincham and wife Myrtle of Blue Rapids, KS., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Amy Fincham Barta and husband, Alva, Wichita, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Blue Rapids.
