W[illett] W. Gilliland went to St. Joseph yesterday in response to a telegram announcing the death of his sister-in-law, Miss Ida Bowman, of this city.

From The Leavenworth Times, Saturday Morning, February 23, 1889.

Death of Miss Ida Bowman.

The many friends of Miss Ida Boman were shocked yesterday to learn of her death, which occurred day before yesterday in the State Infirmary at St. Joe. The deceased had been visiting the family of Dr. Yonkin, formerly of this city, in St. Louis, and the first tidings her family had that she was in St. Joe was a telegram announcing her death at that place.

Miss Bowman was a daughter of S[tephen] P[orter] Bowman and was a member of the Christian church. She had lived in this city all her life and was beloved by a large circle of friends, who mourn her sudden and untimely death.

The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. S. T. Martin, of the Christian church, will conduct the services.

From The Leavenworth Times, Saturday, February 23, 1889.

The remains of Miss Ida Bowman arrived from St. Joseph, Mo., on the 3:54 Missouri Pacific train last evening. Funeral services at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Friends of the family invited.

From The Leavenworth Times, Saturday, February 23, 1889.

Funeral of Miss Bowman.

Rev. Sumner T. Martin of the Christian church, conducted the services of the late Ida Bowman yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. A large number of friends were present. The services were very impressive. Rev. Martin did all that human words could do to lighten the blow which has fallen upon this household, but all that he could do was to point the stricken family to Him who cures all sorrows, lightens all burdens and turns the darkest hour into a hope-filled dawn.

From The Leavenworth Times, Sunday Morning, February 24, 1889.

In referring to the death of Miss Ida Bowman who was reported as having died in an infirmary in St. Joe, was an error, as the lady never was at such a place, but was remaining with a lady friend of Mrs. Dr. Yonkin in St. Louis.

From The Leavenworth Times, Sunday, February 24, 1889.
