In Memory

Of sister Carroll. A loved one has gone. Again the Angel of Death has visited our community, and sad the thought, but precious the memory of our sister who has gone from us. Never on earth to be with us again as in former but the holy Angels called her to a blessed home above where there is no pain, nor grief, nor toll.
She leaves behind a dear old mother, two brothers, one sister, and six children to mourn her loss, but our loss is her gain. She bore her sufferings with great patience and said that earth had no charms for her, and that the Holy Angels were awaiting her arrival home.
She committed her children to her relatives present, asking them to bring her little ones up in the right way so that they would live Christian lives.
She called to her children, one by one, to be good children, and she was consoled by the earnest answers that they gave, replying that they would.
She asked the Lord to bless her dear old mother who had been spared to wait on her during her last days and to give her a home of comfort when she was left in her sad condition with her little children around her.
God knew best when he called her dear husband, the father of their little babes, home. He knew there would be provided a way for the widow and orphans, and now there will be provided a way for the orphans.
So now, dear mother, brothers, sister, children, you should strive to wear that starry crown that comes to those that serve Jesus.
We have many reasons to believe that sister Carroll has gone to her rest. Her last remarks give great satisfaction to the family and friends who were present. They should not mourn her, though we know there is a vacant place in the home that can never be filled.

"Yes, we miss her in the church,
They miss her in the family dear,
In the evening songs that's sung,
And in the lonely hour of prayer.
But one by one we pass away,
Our body soon must decay,
But life's chain unlinked must be;
To set our souls from this earth free.
One by one we pass away,
Thus star by star decline,
The lovely voice is still,
In the vacant home of thine.
A precious one from us has gone,
The voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our home,
And never can be filled."
