Mildred L. Cusey, 76, 814 North 15th Street, Bismarck, North Dakota, died at her home on Tuesday, 13 Sep. 1994. She was born 23 Sep 1917 in a sod house on Cannonball River in Grant County, North Dakota, the daughter of Archie and Goldie (Juber) Stewart.
Mildred graduated from Brisbane High School in 1934. In 1938 she graduated from State Teachers College at Dickinson with a teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in a one room school house in Grant County, continuing in Carson, New Leipzig, Steele and ending her 39 years of teaching in the Bismarck Public School System.
She married Gilbert Cusey on 14 Jun 1942 in San Diego, California. Their celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1992.
Mildred had been an active member of the Bismarck-Mandan Retired Teachers Association since her retirement from teaching in May of 1991.
She enjoyed her vegetable garden, her grandchildren and being the family pictorial historian. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and George Mathews all of Auburn, Maine; three grandchildren, Kristy Mathews of Boston, Mass., Tracy Mathews of Auburn, Maine, and George W. Mathews IV of Rochesster, New York; two sisters, Verna Berg of Winston, Oregon and Elsie Osbun of Paramount, California; one brother, Duane Stewart of Bismarck.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth and by her husband, Gilbert who died in 1992
