Alexander lived in the Parry Sound & Magnetawan, Ontario District. When he came west, the family left from Sunridge Station travelling to Alberta with what was to be known as the Parry Sound Colonies.
He left in the early 1900's with his brothers George, James, Jack and their families. Two brothers, Edward and Garfield chose to remain in the east. With the McConnells came their relatives; the Campbells, Drapers, McCullochs, Willsons and Hacketts.
Alexander's family initally settled in the Bruderheim area, eventually moving closer to Lamont living in an area called Star.
He and his brother George are both buried in the Hackett Cemetery in Lamont, Alberta.
Alexander's parents were John & Elizabeth McConnell, comfirmed on Alexanders marraige certificate.
Alexander's wife was Mary Jane Campbell, daughter of William James Campbell & Eliza Jane MacFarlane Campbell.
Alexander & Mary Jane were married on Jan 3, 1877 in Muskoka, Ontario.
Mary Jane died Dec 23, 1928 at Boyne Lake. She was buried on the family farm in Boyne Lake, Alberta. There is no marker.
