GENEVA CARDEN AKERS, 81, of Belspring, went to Heaven on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Akers, her parents, Jack and Georgia Carden, and her sister, Juanita Nolen.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Dennis Young of Roanoke; her son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and Ann Akers of Dublin; her grandchildren, Adam Young and his wife Kelley of Charleston, South Carolina, Sarah Young of Roanoke, Jonathan Akers of Dublin, and LeeAnna Akers of Dublin. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews; and her special little companion, Susie.

Her family gratefully thanks her caregivers, friends and family who allowed Geneva to remain in her home, Carolyn "Spunky", Betty, Rhonda, Judy, Lois, Donna, and LeeAnna.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers are appreciated or donations to Toys for Tots may be dropped off at any SunTrust Bank or made online at www.toysfortots.org.
