Joe H Witherspoon was the son of Milton and Doshie Chappell Witherspoon. When Doshie died in 1933, Joe came and lived with his uncle Ab and Aunt Beulah Witherspoon. He was there until he went into the service. He entered the Army on November 04, 1942.
He left the Army on March 22, 1944 and died on July 19, 1946.
Rites Held At Cross Bridges For Joe Weatherspoon
Joe H Weatherspoon, 25 veteran of World War II, died unexpectedly at 3:25 o'clock yesterday at the home of Mrs Willie Massey at Cross Bridges, where he had been residing since his discharge.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 o'clock this morning at Cross Bridges Baptist Church by the Rev. fred Lewis with burial in Lowe's Bend Cemetery.
A son of Milton Weatherspoon and the late Dochia Chappell Weatherspoon, he was born in Hickman County on Feb.25, 1921. He was a farmer prior to entering the Army Nov. 04,1942. a mechanic while in the Army, he was discharged March 22, 1944 at William Beaumont General Hospital at El Paso, Texas. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving beside his father are a sister, Mrs. Childress Pruitt, of Hickman County; three brothers; Roy, Arthur and Hansel Weatherspoon, all of Hickman County; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Clifton, Kenneth and Hansel Weatherspoon, Jessie Sisk, Bill Keith and Jim Massey.
Oakes and Nichols was in charge.
