daughter of Edgar Daniel Towl, MD and Isabella Mary (Hawkins)Mrs. Cook. Mary's nickname was Mamie, born & raised in Salem, Oregon. Went to live with her grandmother Roxlana 'Racy' (Pierce)who was 1st Mrs. Daniel Towl, then 2nd married Dudley Merrill of Merrillville, Indiana. Mamie also lived with her auntie Mary J. (Towl)Mrs. John Steichelman, in Merrillville, Lake Co., Indiana. There she met and married 1st, Clarence Beattie. A few days after their first & only child was born, Mary Grace Beattie, he was killed in a train accident while working on the railroad. She later went to secretarial School in Portland, OR. She worked for the census bureau in Washington, D.C. There she met and married Edward Alexander Paul. Three children: Edward A. Jr.; Ethel R. and Estelle H. Paul.
She died from the Flu.
