Russell M. Barbour, 88, 5404 Dininger Road, Shelby, OH., died Friday July 30, 199 in Hillside Nursing Home, Willard.
Born June 7, 1911, in Kentucky, to George H. and Mary (Hall) Barbour, he had been a Shelby resident since 1934. A graduate of Morehead High School in Kentucky, Barbour retired in 1976 from Fate-Root-Heath in Plymouth after 32 years of service. He was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include his wife, V. Ruth (Hazelwood) barbour, whom he wed May 15, 1936: two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Kent Knaus of Plymouth, and Sally and Larry Vanasdale of Galloway: one son and daughter-in-law, David and Jean Barbour of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Gail Knaus Shatkus, Ann Knaus Young, Andrew Knaus, Edward and Brian Vanasdale, Lisa Barbour Anthony and Amy Barbour; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Helen of Melbourne, FL; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Oscar Shatzer of Dayton; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Barbour: and six sisters, Myrtle Porter, Bessie Phillips, Nancy Foreman, Bertha Young, Pearl Adam, and Francis Purvis.
A private funeral was held Monday August 2 at the Bardull funeral Home. Rev. Harold Hopkins officiated. Calling hours were not observed.
