Lindsay A. Ashley was born in 1820 in Adair Co., Kentucky. He was the son of Charles A. Ashley (1789-1871) and Mary Arman (1793-1861). Both of his parents were born in North Carolina and both died in Somerset, Pulaski Co., Kentucky.
Lindsay married Minerva Anna "Annie" Aker *(1821-1906) in Pulaski Co., KY in 1842. Annie was the daughter of John Aker (1773-1819 ?) and Catherine Fetterling (1770- ?). Both of Annie's parents were born in Virginia.
Lindsay fought for the Union in the Civil War. He was a private in the 19 KY Infantry Regiment, Company G.
Lindsay and Annie had 11 known children. In order of their birth they were John Ashley, Cynthia Ann Ashley, William Ashley, Benjamin Franklin "Dock" Ashley, Charles Lindsay Ashley, Millard Fillmore Ashley, Margaret Ellen Ashley and Sarah Ashley.
Lindsay died in 1898. He and Annie had been married for about 47 years. Lindsay was buried in the Campground Cemetery in Pulaski Co., Kentucky and had a Civil War marker. When Annie died in 1906 she was also buried in the Campground Cemetery.
