Birth: 1840

Death: 1871
Whitley County

Abigail "Abby" (Blevins) King was born in Wayne Co., KY about 1841. She died about 1871 in Whitley Co., KY.

She was the daughter of Talton Blevins (1810-1880) and Mary Ann "Polly" Woods (1811-1915). Talton was born in Wayne Co., KY, Mary Ann in South Carolina. Talton was the son of Jonathon Blevins (1779-1863) and Catherine Troxell (1783-1814).

Abby was the first wife of Thomas Braxton "Brack" King (1839-1918), son of Thomas Murray King (1790-1880) and Mary Rebecca Cox (1800-1881). They had six known children. Brack's second wife was Nancy Blevins (1852-1914), Abby's sister, with whom he he had nine known children.

It is thought that Abby was buried in what is now called the Duncan Cemetery in McCreary Co., KY. According to McCreary Co. historian Robert Ernest Stephens (1990), this old cemetery has 77 readable headstones and 86 unmarked or unreadable markers. There is a field stone with the faint markings of "A. B. K." on it. It is not known for sure but this could be her grave marker. It is thought that her husband Thomas and her sister Nancy are also buried in this cemetery, both with unmarked or now unreadable stones.
