Floyd H. Alexander, 83, died peacefully home, Saturday, December 29, 2007, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 18, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson. Arrangements are being handled by Mark Seepe, Funeral Directors and Crematorium in Jackson.
Floyd, a retired building contractor, had worked in this capacity for 60 years, and has been greatly missed by his many clients since his retirement two years ago. He endured a lengthy illness with alzheimer's and was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.
Born June 28, 1924 in Glen Allen, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Wiley and Sarah Haney Alexander. Floyd spent his early years in Crossett, Arkansas. He moved his family to the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Camille in 1969, where he continued to work in the construction industry. In 1971, the family moved to Jackson and Floyd started the construction business, where he worked until his retirement.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue Alexander of Jackson; daughter's, Lisa and Sarah Alexander; stepson, Richard Green; and grandson, Joseph, all of Jackson. Survivors also include two children from a previous marriage, his son and daughter-in-law, Floyd R. and Cathy Alexander, of Denver, CO, and his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Steve Gutosky, of Weatherly, PA; three granddaughters, Renee Alexander Escobedo, her husband, Isaac, Lori Alexander, and Leslie Gutosky; a grandson, Josh Gutosky, and two greatgrandchildren.
Floyd will be remembered most for his honesty and integrity, as well as his amazing ability to build or repair anything relating to home construction. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and clients.
