Kornelis Bouma was born in June 1837 at the village Ureterp, municipality Opsterland, in the eastern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland. His parents are Pieter Riemers Bouma, laborer, and Aaltje Kornelis de Boer.
Laborer Kornelis Bouma married on 25 November 1869 at Beetsterzwaag, the seat of mun. Opsterland, at the age of 32 years to the five years younger servant maid Hiltje Terpstra, born and residing at Ureterp too, daughter of Lammert Johannes Terpstra and Wimke Gerrits de Vos, legalizing daughter Aaltje, who was born on 5 November 1869.
Hiltje Lammerts Terpstra died already on 13 May 1871, at the age of 29 years.
On 27 March 1880 Kornelis Bouma, still residing at his birth place Ureterp, remarried at Beetsterzwaag, the seat of Opsterland, at the age of 42 years to the eight years younger Fimke Haisma, born in municipality Opsterland too, but at the village Lippenhuizen, since January 1879 widow of Kornelis' younger brother Harmen Bouma, who died in January 1879 at Ureterp at the age of 39 years, leaving his wife and six children ranging from 3 to 11 years old.
Kornelis died in 1921 at the age of 84 years at his birthplace Ureterp, since December 1913 widower of Fimke Haisma.
