Ray Benjamin Daughenbaugh Sr has lived in Marshalltown Iowa, Sterling, Illinois and was born in Freeport, Illinois. He is the son of Frank and Nancy Daughenbaugh and attended the local schools in Freeport.
He was employed by Illinois Central Railroad for several years before moving to Marshalltown and was employed at M & St. L railroad (Minneapolis & St. Louis Railroad) retiring in the summer of 1959.
Survivors include his wife Martha Quies,a son Ray B. Daughenbaugh Jr and a daughter Maxine Violet. His 2 sisters Mrs Eva Frueh of Freeport and Ada Pontenberg of Stockton also survived.
He is my grandfather who I never met as he passed away before I was born in 1961. My father or his son Ray Jr. also worked at M & St. L Railroad before moving to Chicago and becoming a bowling alley mechanic. I understand that he enjoyed drinking and smoking with his wife Martha at the local establishment. He was also a very jealous man who fought for his wife's honor a few times as the story was told to me.
