Sherlene Cox Bauer
Cedar City, Utah
Our dear mother, sister, grandmother and friend Sherlene Cox Bauer passed away in Cedar City, Utah on Saturday, July 27th at the age of 75. She was born on April 24, 1938, the oldest child of Antone Whitaker Cox and Thora Leigh Cox. Sherlene was raised in Cedar City and loved Southern Utah and especially the mountains, spending much time as a child at the Blue Springs Ranch with her family and later on Kanarra Mountain at her and Dad's cabin where they watched several generations of kids grow and blossom. She always managed to feed anyone who dropped by.
Sherlene married the love of her life Raymond W. (Pipe) Bauer on January 5th 1963 and they enjoyed 34 years of marriage until he passed away on August 20, 1997. She missed him every day. Mom worked many jobs in Cedar but enjoyed doing home health for many years until Dad died. She changed course and worked as a substitute teacher at Cedar High and Canyon View until retirement where she really enjoyed helping the kids. Sherlene was a member of the LDS Church and a member of the 1st Ward for 45 years.
Sherlene is survived by her children David W. Bauer (Lisa) of Cedar City; Jill Anne Hartvigsen (Greg) of Kaysville; Jon Raymond Bauer of Cedar City; her sister Tina Cox Batt of Phoenix, Arizona; along with her grandchildren Alex Hartvigsen, Tyler Hartvigsen, Janice Hartvigsen, Abbey Hartvigsen, Brennon Bauer, and Nathan Bauer. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother J. Antone Cox (Tony).
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Iron County Home Health and Horizon Home Health along with the staff of Kolob Regional and Emerald Pointe and a special thanks to Hospice nurses Amber and Katryn.
