Mildred was the 4th and youngest child of David Thomas Rees and Mary Monroe Rees. She was born and grew up in Lansford, PA. She majored in Home Economics at Penn State, where she met and married Lorimer H. Brown of Easton, PA. They had 3 children, Lorimer Jr, T. Scot, and Gabrielle.
