FUNERAL RITES TO BE HELD AT HARTSVILLE
Mrs Ora Gilliland, 71, wife of Sherman Gilliland, died at 4:30 o'clock Thursday morning at her home in Hartsville. She had been seriously ill for the last four months.
Mrs Gilliland was a lifelong resident of Bartholomew county. She was born Nov 19, 1876, near Hope, the daughter of John M and Anna Collins and spent her early life in that vicinity. For many years before her death she had been a resident of the Hartsville community and both she and her husband, a gunsmith and repairman, were well known. They were married 47 years ago.
Mrs Gilliland was one of a family of five children, three of whom survive. They include two brothers, Charles Collins of Columbus and Melton Collins, northwest of Columbus, and a sister, Mrs Isabelle Parrott of Hartsville. Another brother, Alonzo Collins, preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Baptist church, but in later life had been attending the Hartsville Methodist church, where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The Rev Keith Parr, pastor, will be in charge and burial will be made at Hope Moravian cemetery.
