Luke Janke, 59, of 10 Church St., New Paltz, died January 9th after a long illness. Mr. Janke, a retired general contractor from New York City, had made his home in New Paltz for the last few years.
Born in Astoria, L.I. on November 6, 1905, Mr. Janke was the son of the late Emil and Frances Janke. His wife, the former Zabeth Wahfarth, survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ronnie Piel and Mrs. Theodore Doelger, Smithtown, and Mrs. James Boyle, Central Islip; three brothers, Frank, Mastic, Thomas, Pine Bush, and Lester, Montgomery; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Herzberg, Mrs. John Batchelor and Mrs. James Friegel, Montgomery, and Mrs. Louis Paz, Middletown, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 12th at the Pine Funeral Home Inc., New Paltz, with the Rev. Roy Hassell, minister of the New Paltz Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
