|Birth: ||Jul. 12, 1928|
|Death: ||Mar. 5, 2011|
On March 5, 2011, Daniel Oliver Harrison died as he lived -- with a sense of humor and surrounded by his family.
Daniel was born July 12, 1928 in Maeser, Utah to John and Beatrice Neal Harrison. He was the youngest of 11 children.
As a young man, he joined the Navy in 1946. He became a Seaman First Class in World War II and served in Saipan, Guam, and the Mariana Islands.
He later met his wife, Nellie Loraine Roberts, in 1951. They were married June 28, 1952 in Maesar and sealed in the Manti temple, May 5, 1962.
Daniel was greatly loved and well-respected by many in the community. He had the gift of conversation and never met a stranger. Though his tall stature could be intimidating, underneath his gruff exterior was a kind and loving soul.
He was always quick to offer a helping hand to family, neighbors, friends, and strangers alike, as well as a teasing joke to brighten someone's day.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie, his five children — Dan (Susan), Roger (Leslie), Kyle (Donda), Diann Adams (Gordon), and Wesley; two sisters, Virginia and Dorothy; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Because of his caring nature, he was considered a father and grandfather figure by many.
Funeral services will be under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Morturary on Thursday, March 10 at the Vernal Utah Stake Center.
