THE OLDEST SISTER IN THE CITY.

The funeral of Sister Mary Ann was held at 3 o'clock yesterday from the convent chapel of the Sisters of Mercy, Fifteenth and Castellar streets. The aged patriarch of Nebraska, Father Kelley of the cathedral, conducted the burial services, and was assisted by all the priests of the city and suburbs who could possibly attend. The interment was in Holy Sepulcher cemetery.

Sister Mary Ann was 60 years of age and twenty-five years in the order of Mercy. She was the oldest sister in the city, and beloved by all who knew her. The convent chapel was crowded yesterday at 8 o'clock, where a high mass of requiem was sung. Her works of mercy in Omaha cover a period of twenty years and there are many plaintive stories of sacrifice and of hardship in the life of the departed sister which speak volumes for one totally devoted to self-abnegation and the relief of those in need or distress.

The pall-bearers were Edward Cassidy, J. B. Callighan, P. H. Corey, John Sheahan, J. J. Mahoney and Michael Leahy.
