Gerald J."Jerry" Coyle, 78, of Atchison KS died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Atchison Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
Mass of Christian Burial Mass will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, Oct. 10th, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Gerard Senecal, OSB as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atchison, KS. Parish Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm with visitation to follow until 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 9th, 2012 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison Catholic Elementary School, Sacred Heart Church or American Heart Association and may be left in care of the funeral home. Mr. Coyle was born on March 29, 1934 in Omaha, NE., the son of Eugene E. and Anna (Probst) Coyle. He graduated from Maur Hill High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1955 to 1957. Mr. Coyle worked as a plumber and boiler operator at Ft. Leavenworth, KS for 28 years retiring in 1992. After retirement he worked at Snow Creek Ski Lodge in the rental department for over 15 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the CVS Coffee Club, was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and former member of the Pineview County Club. Jerry enjoyed golfing, bowling and bowled his first 300 game on his 70th birthday. He was a member of the Carrigan Lumber Bowling team and bowled in the Senior Citizen League. Jerry was married to Lorraine Groff on July 19, 1958. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons; Michael G. (Amy) Coyle, Orlando, FL. and Jeffrey (Connie) Coyle, Porter, TX , a brother; Eugene Coyle, Atchison, KS., nine grandchildren; Erik, Kyle, and Joshua Dehne, Courtney and Kayla Coyle, Anna, Julia, Melissa, and Jessica Coyle. His parents, sister; Ellen Hagen and brother; Jack Coyle preceded him in death.
