Raymond Robert ‘Bob' Griffin
Raymond Robert ‘Bob' Griffin, 81, of Atchison, KS, passed away, Thursday, December 15, 2011 at his home, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, December 19, 2011 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Pastor Dinah Dutta officiating. Burial will follow in the Branscom Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday with visitation to follow until 8:30 PM at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials in honor of Bob are suggested to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or the N.E.K. Railroad Club and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Bob was born on June 15, 1930 in Oak Mills, Kansas the son of the late Raymond and Alma I. (Hundley) Griffin. He served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force from 1947-1955. Bob was a bus driver for 14 years, a tire serviceman for Firestone for 20 years, a Reserve Police Officer for the Atchison Police Department for over 22 years and most recently a clerk at the Atchison Hardware Store. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #6, Masonic Lodge, where he had served as Past Master of the Lodge, a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 91 and the N.E.K. Railroaders Club. Bob enjoyed reading western books whenever he had the chance.
Bob married Ruth Baker in 1951 and they later divorced. He and Mary Jane Bouley were united in marriage on June 30, 1957 at the Willis Christian Church, Willis, KS. Mary Jane survives of the home. Additional survivors include sons, William ‘Bill' Griffin; Robert Griffin, both of Atchison, KS; Edward ‘Ed' Griffin and his wife, Shelia, Ft. Worth, TX; a daughter, Pam E. Griffin, Atchison, KS; brothers, David Griffin, Atchison, KS; James Griffin, Wathena, KS; Paul Richard Griffin, Harrisonville, MO; grandchildren, Jason Griffin; Benjamin Griffin; Kristen Griffin; Great-Grandchildren, Gabriel Tipton; John Livingston and Natalie Griffin.
Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert Eugene ‘Bobby Gene' Griffin; brothers, Don and Bill Griffin and a sister Norma Katherine Griffin.
