Father: Peter Bernard Alwine 1874 – 1940 Mother: Ada Naomi Creight 1878 – 1943 Wife: Concetta G "Tina" D'orta 1924 – 1995 ------------- Bernard A. "Bernie" Alwine, retired vice president of the Freihoffer Baking Co., died Wednesday. He was 73 and lived in Bryn Mawr.
Alwine worked for the bakery from 1947 until he retired in 1967. After leaving Freihoffer's, he and his wife, the former Concetta G. "Tina" Monti, owned and managed Main Line Travel until 1982. She is deceased.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of Bala Country Club. He also was a past president of the Philadelphia Bakers' Club.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Lawrence K. and Bruce E.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy "Dot" Jones.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Ss. Philip and James Church, 701 E. Lincoln Highway, Exton, where friends may call at 8:45 a.m. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery in Havertown.
