George Raymond Dewees, tenth son of Charles Baron and Minnie J. Thompson Dewees, was born May 23, 1910 in Corning, Iowa. He departed this life September 15, 1974 of a heart attack at his home. He was 64 years, 3 months, and 23 days. All of his life, with the exception of 4 years spent at CCC camp at Leon, was spent in Corning. He attended school here.
He was united in marriage to Doris Marvin of Leon, Iowa on June 9, 1937. To this union four children were born: Charles, Ernest, Mary, and Bonny.

George spent most of his years working as a mechanic until ill health- forced his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, three sisters who died In infancy: Amy, Phoebe, and Ida; and two other sisters, Mrs. Gladys Cloutier and Mrs. Flossie Birkene. Three brothers, Clarence M,
Ralph N, and Ernest L Dewees I, three half-brothers Harry and Harvey Dewees and Louis Voohees and one-half sister, Mrs. Mae Scott.

He is survived by his loving wife Doris, his four children, two daughters-in-law Shirley and Nioma, two sons-in-law David and Ralph; twelve grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Velma Crestors of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Bertha Greenfield and one brother-in-law Harry Greenfield of Corning, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were Wed., Sept, 18 at 10:80 a.m. at the Roland Funeral Home in Corning, conducted: by Joe Cook. Music was by Donna Peckham, Casket bearers were Eldon Lowther, Elmer Botkins ,: Merlin Drew, Delmar Pelmulder, Vaughn Tindall and Gilbert Travis. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery

A precious one from us is gone
A voice we loved is still.
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled
The Soon His love has given.
And tho the body slumbers here
His soul is safe in Heaven.
